The collection of San Francisco International airport stock aerial photography is extensive. It includes aerial views of many individual aspects of the airport, the runways, the runway markings and related aspects of aviation at the San Francisco International airport. It also includes aerial photographs of the areas surrounding and supporting aviation and transportation services at the airport, including the maintenance facilities, the United Airlines maintenance facility and airport parking. Chronologically, the collection begins with aerial photography of the San Francisco airport area when it was a wetland, continues when it was known as Mills Field and nothing more than a small strip and continues to track the airport's evolution through subsequent phases of development. It documents graphic aspects of airport design and the air traffic problems sometimes caused by fog and other weather related issues.
